The mum and baby koala that visited our backyard early last month returned today!! They were back in the tree outside my window. Baby is getting much bigger, and more independent of mum. He even ventured a little higher in the tree than mum to reach the younger gum leaves at one point. So sweet!
There are loads more photos in Flickr. They were pretty active throughout the day, moving around to eat and rest as they wished. They didn't seem all that fussed by humans either ... happily moving around in front of us. Even the dog didn't scare them, which was surprising.
It's so nice to see them back again. Koala numbers are diminishing at a rather alarming rate, so it's great that these ones haven't disappeared. I'm not sure where they are now ... they might still be in the tree - they were still there when I left to go out earlier, but it's dark now and too hard to see. I hope they stick around, or at least continue to return. Lovely to see the baby growing. They might need names soon I think!
