PS It's my sister's birthday today. Happy Birthday Michelle!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
I've just decided that I have to make a concerted effort to post more often! My recent efforts have been pathetic, and I'm really not impressed with myself at all. I've just been getting lost in my archives, and having so much fun reminiscing about all the stuff I was doing over two years ago. It's completely depressing to think I won't be able to do the same about the time I've spent here in London. This is the sort of stuff I'm really going to want to remember and read about ... and it's not recorded anywhere. That's so wrong! So I'm going to try to post more regularly ... and most likely more randomly as well. I need the random comments as much as the news. So ... this is three days running, already I'm doing better! Hopefully I can keep it up! Better get some sleep though. Why can I never succeed in getting an early night???
Wimbledon is so much fun! Being there as a spectator was such a different experience! I had the best day! Okay, so I've thoroughly enjoyed all the time I've spent there over the weekend already, but being free to walk around and go anywhere and watch whichever match whenever I want was fabulous. And we had the best day! It was sunny and warm all day ... play continued until after 9pm! We were so lucky! And the schedule of play today was fabulous.
We had Centre Court tickets, so after catching the Aussie boys win in the doubles on an outer court first up this morning, we saw Davenport go through to the next round, then Hewitt beat Moya in four sets, followed by Henman v Philippoussis ... which was incredible! The vibe in the crowd for the Henman match was unimaginable. Full capacity crowd, and obviously the vast majority were supporting the local boy. Never being a huge Philippoussis fan, I wasn't too fussed either way ... and it was very easy to get caught up in the Henman excitement. Such a brilliant match too ... some wonderful tennis. So much fun!
I'll be back again next weekend ... in the first aid room of course, but looking forward to it none the less. Meanwhile, I need to get some sleep! 'Night!
Completely out of time for blogging again. Depressing. In the process of trying to compile an email to send everyone back home. Totally overdue. They always take so much time to write though! I've just updated my little calendar thingy ... it was totally out of date. So much so that half the stuff that I just added won't even show up. That was a waste of time. Oops.
Busy weekend ... spent Friday at Wimbledon, then on to Chilli Peppers afterwards (for the third time). Saturday at Wimbledon again, then on to the Olympic Torch concert. And today was supposed to be my day off ... but I ended up back at Wimbledon since they decided to play today. Good fun though ... got to watch a fair bit of tennis today actually. Saw Andy win on Court 1 ... yay! Back again tomorrow, but as a spectator this time. Hopefully the rain stays away and we get a decent amount of tennis.
Anyway, I better get some sleep I guess. I'm sure there's other stuff I should be saying. My blog is so depressingly empty at the moment. Always the way ... when stuff is happening I don't get to talk about it, but if life is quiet, I'm constantly posting. Guess that's just how it works. Ooh, baby was due yesterday incidently, but I haven't heard anything yet. Any day now ... =)
Anyway, sleep! 'Night all!
I have high-speed internet again! Finally. Thank goodness. So can't deal with dial-up. It's painful. And frustrating. This is much better! Remote too ... I can move around with my computer and still be connected. Yay! Love it.
Also have tv. Regular free-to-air tv. Aerial finally located, fixed and connected. Who would have thought that could be exciting. But it is! Not that I have any clue what I can watch. The point is that should I want to watch something, I can! Yay! No longer have to rely on videos and dvds to justify owning a tv.
Meanwhile, it's late, and I should be asleep. My sister is calling in the morning ... haven't spoken to her in ages!! Very excited. Parents also calling again. Spoke to them tonight as well, but they said they'd call again on my actual birthday. Yay! Then I have dreadfully mundane things to fill up my day. Not working, and rarely have time off during business hours, so sadly can't be helped. Going to see We Will Rock You in the evening though. Should be fun.
Hmm. I'm sure there should be news to tell. It's been far too long. My calendar thingy over on the left is totally out of date ... really need to update that sometime. I was at Wimbledon last Friday for St John. Build-up only, meaning no tennis, but plenty of players wandering around regardless. Plus it was kind of cool to see Wimbledon minus the crowds. And being set up ready for this week. I'll be back again Friday and Saturday, and Kristen and I have Centre Court tickets for Monday. Hopefully the rain doesn't settle in too much by then.
Saturday and Sunday I was at the Chilli Peppers concerts, again for St John. I really enjoyed it. Spent most of the two days at the radio and away from casualties, which I enjoyed far more than I would have expected. Great view of the concert too ... which was rather enjoyable as well. Good fun.
Hmm, not sure what else to tell. I'm sure other stuff has been going on that I've forgotten to mention, but considering the time and how sleepy I am, it might have to wait for another time. Ooh, one last thing ... Sean's baby brother or sister hasn't arrived yet. Due on Saturday, so expecting that adventure to start rather soon.
Anyway, sleep! 'Night!
Hmph. Running out of time for random bloggage. Not impressed. Although getting used to it I guess. Busy week. Stressful week actually. Continuing dramas with our flat, which thankfully are starting to sort themselves out. Looking forward to coming home and being able to relax, instead of trying to work my way through an ever growing list of stuff to do.
Meanwhile, it's already after midnight and I was supposed to be getting an early night. Wimbledon build-up on Friday, then a couple of evenings at Hyde Park for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concerts. Busy weekend, but staying in London at least this time. Same goes for the next few weekends actually. Hopefully that will give me a chance to save up for my next trip. Lille is next I believe, in France - late July. Yay!
Ooh, Dublin was heaps of fun. Loved having a car again ... I really miss driving! We drove around County Wicklow for the first day and a half, then spent the next day and a half or so in Dublin. So much to see and do ... really enjoyed it. Ireland is just gorgeous, and the people are all so friendly! I'll definitely have to go back again sometime.
Anyway, bed. Really need sleep. And my bed is so comfy ... love my bed. Good night!
I have plans for my birthday! Finally! I'm going to see We Will Rock You with Betty and Kristen!! We're sitting a couple of rows from the front, in the centre. I can't wait! Hopefully Mig will be on ... I'll be devastated if he's not. We'll probably get dinner before as well. Not sure what else I'll do on the day. I may be working at this stage, just depends. I'm going to the theatre at night though ... yay!!
Meanwhile, Brighton was gorgeous! Beautiful, sunny and warm on Sunday afternoon ... I even got sunburnt (despite my usual care to avoid such eventualities). We saw Whistle Down The Wind Saturday night, which was really good. Visited the Royal Pavilion, and hit the shops. I love the Lanes ... so cute! And I saw the sea! I miss the water so much in London! The beach was kind of interesting ... they call it pebbles, but the stones are roughly the size of golf balls ... so bizarre! Surprisingly comfortable to lie on though.
Next weekend is Dublin, and the surrounding counties. Really looking forward to it! Tori, Kristen, Jolene and I ... we're hiring a car and travelling around. Should be heaps of fun! Need some sleep before then though, so I better get to bed. 'Night!!
So ... the end of the week is finally approaching. Thank goodness. This has been one of the most unsettling weeks ever. Everything has felt strange, and unfamiliar. I haven't particularly enjoyed it at all ... it's just been odd. I can even attribute the oddness to a few specific factors.
1. I moved on Monday ... so I'm now living somewhere new. Unfortunately it hasn't all been as simple as I would have liked, and we've got plenty of issues to sort out before we're feeling settled.
2. Sean's Mum is now on maternity leave (baby due in about three weeks), so she's been around during the day ... and as such Sean has been more difficult than usual (he's usually an angel). She's lovely and we get on fine, but Sean seems to react to the extra attention.
3. Sean has been having swimming lessons all week ... so we've had a completely different schedule, and I've hardly seen any of the other nannies I usually see. They're my colleagues as far as I'm concerned ... without them I'd never survive the job. Nannying would be an incredibly lonely experience otherwise.
4. I haven't been going home to Pax every night. Kind of related to the part where I moved, but significant in it's own right as far as I'm concerned. Pax is without a doubt my "London home" ... I miss it terribly.
So I think that basically covers it all. Apart from the added complications of trying to unpack and therefore getting very little sleep, being completely exhausted from the swimming lessons as they involve me getting in the water as well, and as always having too much to do and not enough time to do it all.
Tonight I started to regain a little familiarity though. I caught my old bus over to Hampstead straight after work, went to St John, and visited Pax (then didn't want to leave). Wonderful! Back home again now, and definitely ready for bed. Finally going to see Harry Potter in the morning ... can't wait!
